this is not exactly new (you may have already seen it in the gallery), but this is how it was meant to be... out the SD blackout and.... here is the Painkiller!
of course i had to replace the volume pot (original was 25k) with a push pull to split the coils... clips and more comments will follow!

scroll down for audio clips!

That looks great. Simple and clearly means business. Very nice indeed.

i forgot to say... it's tuned in B, and this is the stuff the PK excels in... i never understood if that's what people call djenty, but i love the metallic and bouncing sound that low strings make when released! ;)

the axe itself is a single pickup RG 321, so a cheap but effective thing, with one of the worst hardtail bridges i've ever played with, a damn cool look and a killswitch that i'll probably never use (but i couldn't resist some crazy train attempts when i first played it! :))

ah, one last thing. the PK sounds killer when split! i'll post some clip sooner or later...

It's like looking at an old Porsche 911. Simple lines, no frills, but from every angle a beauty.

i found it in an online shop in italy (i didn't bother to try it because it's basically an RGR321 and i know it very well)... i think i paid it around 310 €, a really good value!

nope.
"unfortunately" that's simply basswood. it sounds nice, anyway!

There's nothing wrong with good basswood. My Jem FP77 was basswood and sounded stellar. Lots of Music Mans have basswoodbodies too and there are by no means cheapo's. Sorry, for the sidestep in the thread.

Mine didn't sound that great in Drop B with a Painkiller. And by mine, I mean my basswood RG, lol

well, i was a bit skeptical about basswood, but now i'm really appreciating its acoustic qualities with ceramic pickups... alnico sounds too soft, in my opinion.
anyway your jem was surely a better guitar than my cheap RGs, but i like their tone nonetheless!
