Hi all,
So I went to the guitar store this morning to get new strings, and as I finished my purchase, I happened to look at the pedal cabinet under the counter and saw a Tonerider Compressor for $29 (AUD). Apparently they're $170 new, and the cheapest one on the bay is $149.
I already own the Tonerider chorus which is really well built and sounds good, and even though the thought of owning a compressor never entered into my head, I just had to buy it. And I'm bloody happy I did too. I've got no idea how to use it properly just yet, but fiddling around with the knobs during a jam today gave really good results. Really cut through, and brought more life to my amp.
I've never used another compressor so I couldn't give light as to what it's similar too, but if you're in the market for one, give this one a crack!
Side note, I usually use 46 gauge strings, but threw on a 52 today, and it pulls up on the tremolo bridge on my PRS, making it much higher than with the 46's. It didn't go out of tune during the jam, and sounds really good (which I'm obviously happy about), but just wondering if this is bad for the trem springs, or anything else?
Cheers
