NEW ORANGE TINY DARK TERROR AMP

THAT GREAT little ORANGE amp the TINY TERROR that started a lot of the BOUTIQUE amps to lower there prices

http://www.orangeamps.com/orange-amps-bring-you-dark-terror/

It is basically the same with more options.
Due out soon they are basically the NEWER verson of the ORIGINAL TINY TERROR DUE IN MAY.
Here are some link to Video;s of the amp being played...hmm nothing at BING specific to the DARK TERROR but I am sure if ya go to ORANGE'S site or search YOU TUE you'll find one

It's supposedly like the TINY TERRO with a but more than just GAIN on it more like having a built in TS 808 kind of like  some other new amps actually haveing the TUBE SCREMER BUILT IN !!!

Thisis from ORANGE:s site and it seems you can also order the amp UPGRADED

Orange Amps bring you …………….. Dark Terror

Dark forces have been stirring at Orange Amps where mysterious alchemy has created the beast to be unleashed. Striding out of the shadows is the new Dark Terror –  guitars amps will never be the same again!
Menacingly small, easily recognisable, this aggressive little amp comes with a mind-blowing sound which combines the Shape control of the Thunder series with the weight and size of the monster Terror family.
This Frankenstein-like amp has creepy amounts of gain on tap with disturbingly pleasurable responsiveness. It is uncompromisingly brutal, doubtless unhinged, even ferocious!

The Dark Terror rises from the ethereal depths to fulfil the every desire of the Heavy Metal and Rock guitar players. With its characteristic fearless Orange Amp looks, heavy duty construction and portability, guitar players everywhere will quickly become attuned to this scary dark force of nature.

The Dark Terror is highest gain Terror amp ever and comes with:-

 •New High Gain Preamp 3 x ECC83/12AX7
 •Valve Driven FX Loop 1 x ECC81/12AT7
 •Four Stages of Gain
•15 Watts Class A, Switchable to 7 Watts
 •Weighs in at only 7kg/15lbs
 •A Gig Bag

The Dark Terror is available from the end of May 2011 and priced at £399 (inc. VAT).

Hear its distinctive Orange Amp sound and you will feel this mysteriously attractive force pulling you into the shadow of the Dark Terror. It’s everything you want from a Black Orange Amp. Prepare to ride the Dark Terror storm.

The only DOWN SIDE to this is NO REVERB...
But I have one of the original TINY TERROR'S in a CARVIN CAB with a CELESTION VINTAGE 30 in it and it sounds great

What I have done for other amps I want cabs and that special sound is to make my own cab and put in NOS speakers that would have been in saya DELUXE REVERB or a MARHSALL if that is your sound

With that 7/15 watt choice this amp deliver at home in the studio or at a smaller gig

It is really easy and the only mods are usually to the electroinic so the ohm;s match up.

Let;s hear any one;s side who  has seen one...someone who saw it an NAMMMM

here's a few pics if Guitars that sounded GREAT through the original !!

I agree at the 7 watt position I was in LOVE !!!!!  Unless this is the end of the ORIGINAL TINY TERROR?????

I do wish they would add REVERB...Between the VOX , EPI UNI VALVE, and load of new small head they are all missing reverb which seems to be more acceptable in the UK.
Here is the USA we LOVE our REVERB.....
In the words of my buddy Johnny Thunder;s....SHUT UP AND CRANK UP THE REVERB !!!!

This should be something worth looking forward to.....they have some ideas not toally figured out......
Rumor has it they are working on a 12 inch Accutronics Reverb tank used by FENDER and most USA brands.

Till then it is the ELECTRO HARMONIX HOLY GRAIL, HOLIER GRAIL and HOLIEST OF GRAILS pedals.
Made in NYC by hand though one would think the 2nd and 3rd are better actually they are NOISEY and have to many settings where the HOLY GRAIL has 3 types of REVERB HALL, SPRING, AND FLERB
These are all ya need for what we know to be reverb....about 99.00 USA
There is the Digitech VERBZILLA and several tube driven ones..... but ANALOG is ANALOG so it will do.

I certainly would LOVE to hear one with a REVERB TANK and paying 600 for a FENDER or Gibson piggyback is a bit much.
I remember in the GLAM era ORANGE AMPS though predominetly BASS those made for Guitar were combos that stood 6 feet high and had sound that ONLY MARSHALL could comepete with. Kind of like the KUSTOM;s
Then they dissapeared until the past couple years and are now setting there sites on mainly GUITAR vs BASS.

LOT's of new amps out there and prices that are outrageous.
The PRS.'s,CARR,GRETSCH,VOX, Victoria
Sure they are great but what in god;s name are you playing that ya really need a $4000.00 16 watt amp????
I thought 750.00 for a 100% original Deluxe reverb 15 years ago was a rip off....today this amp I've been offered 3500.00 for.
NO WAY !!! I have 3 original Deluxe Reverb's and not a one is going anywhere !!

I built a Metro-AMP JVM-45 Bluesbreaker replica and when done he turned on his original JVM -45 and you had to really listen for the sublte differences....the good part is we were able to add a reverb tank.

You can get these for way under a grand and IMHO they are FAR FAR FAR better than a new MESA, or even the re-issue Blues breakers.
The BEST part is YOU wire it....so YOU KNOW that amp from Top to Bottom.
A great experience and a quick working knowledge of TUBE amps and the difference in the CLASS'S.

Mhhh just recently bought me a Tiny Terror and love it!
Now this thing....love the effects loop, but more gain? Seriously? I am currently trying a 12AT7 in V1 and now every last bit of gain is still usable, with other tubes full gain was too usually too extreme.
Still I would love to hear it and where the differences lie.

Oh well, after all I probably will be happier with my Terror, just cause I use it for Rock and Blues which it does great and if I want metal I can just crank it for old school metal sounds (even with the right AT7 in V1 mind you) or go clean and use my Fullbore Metal stomp for modern high gain.

Damn...now I´ll wonder forever how this things sounds and if it´s better for me.

But ey, mine looks cooler^^

I love my Cornford Roadhouse 30.  I also have a Laney VC30 which is a great (but very different) amp. The Cornford is my weapon of choice these days.

OOPS! Wrong thread.

For not too much extra money I would get the Orange Thunder 30. Enough headroom on the cleanchannel, fantastic drivesounds. It runs on 30, 15 and 7 watts.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

TELEROCKER,
Have ya tried any of these small ORANGE AMPS?>??

Just wanted ya to know vs buying an ORANGE CAB I went through Vintage Guitar and got speakers that would go into a early Deluxe and got a set of OXFORD SPEAKERS NOS...it gave it a nice Vintage tone. The cab was old as well.

I love these little buggers!!! They make my Rosewood Tele sound like ...Heaven.....

Try one and if you're looking for I can get the originals for about 490.00 and have no price on the new ones yet.
If ya want one email me and I'll put ya in touch with my buddy and he'll take care of ya price wise.

Later

+1

Or the Tweaker.

TT was nice, enough gain, but no loop. I'd take the loop of the Dark Terror and the rest from the Tiny...

Sorry, I chime in a little late. As an convinced Orange-user (Rockerverb 50 head 6v6 into 2x12 cab) I played all: TT, Dual Terror, Rocker, Thunder, Thunderverb... The TT is a nice amp, but lacks clean headroom for use in a band on stage, unless you just play dirt. The Thunder is exactly what you want for small gigs and I think it has a nice price. I can imagine the next setup of you have already a TT, but want nice cleans: buy a used Blues Junior for clean and a A/B-pedal to switch between the Fender and the TT. I have the Blues Junior and it;s great for clean/light crunch.

I don't like the Orange 'high gain' sound. Just putting that out there.
I've played a few Orange amps, I can't usually remember which ones, but they all tend to be microphonic (probably not due to design) when I play them, which doesn't help.

I dunno how much space is inside the normal TT, I know the Dark Terror will have very little space inside, but maybe you could fit one of these if you need a loop in an older TT

Metroamp Loop. It's meant to be a really high quality transparent loop, to the point where people on various sites have tried to reverse engineer it.

used to have a tiny terror but the sound didn't suit me - the dark terror looks promising though and very reasonably priced!

obviously would need to play through one to finally decide!

Music maker,

I wasn;t IN LOVE with mine till I made a cab out of a Vintage Fender cab and bought NOS OXFORDS as speakers, still it is more of A ROCKERS AMP vs a BLUES amp, but at low volumes it;s ok.

I changed to JJEURO TUBES and  then began to like it....though it is not an amp I use for playing it is perfect to practice with.
They are well built and easy to modify...small one change at a time so you can hear it , mess with it and decide which way to go
I have found is best making whole sale changes is faster but ya never know what did it and what ya spent $$ on that ya could have saved.
Still I  would like to see more of these new low wattage heads get some true reverb.

What do ya use as an amp and what style of music do you prefer????

If he says the TT wasn't for him but the DT looks promising... maybe he WANTS more CRUNCH.

The THD Yellow Jackets are for converting 6L6 or EL34 into EL84, not the other way around.
In a 6L6 or EL34 amps, Yellow Jacks + EL84 would give you less headroom.

The Tiny Terror is a pretty busy little box. The Dark Terror from what I've heard will have pretty much zero space left inside it. To take the TT and add an effects loop (valve buffered or solid state) and reverb (valve driven? RCA sockets? Spring Tank?) would be hard I think. Even if it's in a combo version. It's going to take up a lot of room inside that tiny chassis and once you start thinking about going to a bigger chassis, 2x12 combo, bigger reverb tank... etc... the amp is getting pretty big and defeating the point of it being a low watt portable unit.
