Mississippi Queens

Hi, I was thinking of trying something a bit different to the SD 59s in my Hamer Studio Mahogany (a set neck, double cutaway guitar with twin humbuckers) and, on the basis that Hamer do a P90 version of the Studio I thought it might be worth trying MQs.

My question is : do MQs give a very typical P90 sound or are they P90ish but with a character of their own? Hamer put SD P90 pickups in their P90 Studio, though with the HB routing of my guitar I don't have the option of a conventional P90 pickup. So I'm wondering how near to that type of sound the MQs will get me?

Has anyone compared MQs with "typical" P90s (whatever they might be!)?

Thanks for your help and sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search and found some info on MQs but not quite what I am after.

Hi Neil, the MQs are absolutely the same as a regular P90 underneath the cover, and as such sound exactly as you would expect a P90 to.

Thanks Nolly - sounds like they should be just the job then!

I think MQ's are great in mahogany guitars. You will come close to the p90 specials Hamer made.
