Riff Raff/BK-PBass in a Rock Electro band

Introducing the Scarlet Queens, a band I produced last summer/fall.
Their debut EP will be out next week.

The band's guitarist is using a Gibson SG loaded with open coils Riff Raff.
Amp wise this is a healthy mix between an AC15, Orange Tiny Terror and Marshall hot rodded plexi,
each miked up with two mics, I couldn't tell you which... (thank you fancy studio -where the video is shot btw:) )
The guitar is NEVER doubled tracked and is sent straight to the amps.

Oh, and there's also a Jazz Bass loaded with BK-Pbass pups through a Ampeg wall.
Awesome sounding bass.

Both were a delight to mix cause they carve their own territory so well.

The mix and mastering are not that compressed but it's very wide both horizontally and vertically.
So it won't be that impressive on your laptop speakers.
But throw it in a decent hifi system and pump up a bit of volume to get the glorious sound of the RR/BKPBass.

Like I said, the sweeter the sound system, the better it'll sound. The mastering is thought out this way.

Trust me, I've listened the vinyl version on a decent one and the tone is huge.
Youtube compression also thins out the sound too... :*(

I was myself very impressed by the RR neck pickup (there's none here but we used it for cleans on other tracks).
Clean it's really rounded but also spanky, made me think of a neck single coil at times... really liked it :)
And pushed a bit it really sings as well...

Awesome pups in SGs. Funny thing is that they really are reactive to the amp Treble pot.
They can be bright (in a very good and agressive way) but for them to really be, we had to crank the Trebles.
Which is a bit counter intuitive...

Really reactive, responsive, tight, percussive, cutting, biting and dynamic, but never harsh.
Want a set now...
