NGD+NAD Double Trouble ! :)
« on: April 14, 2011, 04:35:59 PM »
I shared all my new gear days with BKPs addicts so lets follow the rule ;)

Playing only on line6 pod made me sad so I sold my gibson les paul custom that was very bright and that did not please me enough to keep it and bought me an high end japanese bacchus les paul copy.

So far it competes more with historic reissues regarding the finish and lacquer. The stock pickups are cool but some raw nickel bkp will smoke there ;) Its also fitted stock with top notch usa CTS pots and vitamin Q PIO capacitors (and not those fakey bumblebees) . Impressive how good those Bacchus Duke play and sound.

I also went for something more organic to play on, a good ol 1981 mesa boogie mark III. Awful to dial in, too much knobs but a clean tone to die for and such clear overdriven tone from metallica to modern metal. I can play some newish metalcore stuff with my miracle man'ned Esp Eclipse in drop B. Funny for such an old amp.

Really love the look of the amp. I'm sure it sounds amazing and at the same time heavy as $%&# :)

Congrats!

congratulations, guitar looks great.if you don't care about having gibson written on the headstock you can find as good a guitar for half the price.my tokai was £1250 including bkp's & case '59 spec, orange drops, cts pots etc.
if your not rich buy a tokai, bacchus, edwards it's the guitar that counts!(if you rich buy a feline lion, wow)
amp looks the biz too, mr zappa liked them.

Thanks, yeah I used to like gibson les paul but those copies are freaking awesome. When I see the bill for an half as good finished historic reissue I prefer to enjoy this bacchus. The nitro finish feels alsmot like the american one so I'm no even bothered on this side ;).

The amp is a beast. Heavy sound and weight. 30 years so far and no flaw or misfunctions yet. It slays for metallica old riffing, really more organic and versatile than the diezel einstein we used to own Hunter ;).

Its mid heavy but not so liquid or chemical as the diezel was. But being all this good its hard to dial in some sounds or remind what you done to the knobs to get it good sounding. The former owner told me to download the user manual and truly it was no joke, its really useful. I'll really try to get a decent microphone to finally do some decent samples of this gear and my bkp pickups ;).

Nice looking Bacchus!  I've never tried one but I'm a big fan of MIJ guitars in general (I even have a bit of a reverse snobbery thing where I'd almost prefer to have an Orville, Edwards, Japanese Epi than a real Gibson, regardless of price)  :D
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

hehe, same here.

Don't get me wrong, if i had the money for a CS gibson I'd be trying those out as well as the high-end MIJs (when you can find them :( ), but certainly there's not really anything in the non-CS gibson range that compares to the MIJ stuff, IMO. Certainly for the price.

Yeah, if I was comfortable spending Custom Shop money (Gibson or Fender) I probably would.

But MIJ stuff doesn't carry the guilt aspect!

And sometimes, it's amazing how accurate they are - for example, the Edwards doublecut LP Junior has the correct, full-width, late '50s style neck tenon, but the Gibson Custom Shop version doesn't!
