Looking for something a little different (suggestions)
« on: April 17, 2011, 12:24:11 AM »
I have a Holydiver in my les paul at the moment, and it's fantastic, but i feel like trying another PU for a little different feel.

With the HD it feels as if i trying to EQ out the intense fatness, which makes the highend a bit subdued,  so I turn the treble up, but doesnt feel like its cutting. Im playing through a mesa roadster which is a DARK amp.

The HD can feel a bit too smooth and lacks some articulation, my LP is really loud
acoustically (chambered) and fairly balanced.

I was thinking of trying a Coldsweat or a Rebel Yell. Any suggestions?

The RY's are reckoned to be bright and tight. I like the Steve Stevens-clips. Coldsweat is ceramic, so will sound not as organic as alnico, but does great for modern Les Pauls-sounds. A little more vintage sounding, but a great pickup in Les Pauls is the VHII.
