As nobody has posted any suggestions on my other thread I've been trawling through threads and sound clips to try and decide what I'm changing my Nailbomb for tomorrow (today). I have it narrowed down to just 2. Bear in mind this is going in a Jackson SL3 and I'm looking for a sound that is warm, fat, fluid, smooth and saturated. To get that kind of thick, saturated tone when the JB was in the guitar I was maxing out a Super Compressor.

This seems to be the go-to pickup for the kind of late 70s/80s Rock/Metal tones I'm after. By all accounts it is most of the things I'm after, though 'saturated' isn't one of them. It seems to be warm, fairly fat (though not excessively so), reasonably fluid, smooth and moderately saturated. It should work fine with the Trilogy Suites I have.

This is a real surprise for me. Reading about it and listening to the clips, it sounds really good. It's warm, very fat, extremely fluid, smooth and saturated - all the things I seem to want. I certainly don't see me having to use the compressor on this! So, why do I hesitate? The simple reason is that I guess I'm intimidated by the power of the thing and also worried about a lack of versatility as I'm in a Rock Covers band doing songs from Feeder to Metallica and Disturbed. I understand it will do clean very well and it will certainly do Metallica/Disturbed but can it be used for things like Iron Maiden and heavy versions of Thin Lizzy, Saxon, DioUFO and Gary Moore? I can't find anything that would suggest it could do these tones.
Urgent help, ideas, suggestions needed please.
