use the vintage mode (modern cuts the negative feedback circuit, so it sounds scooped as $%&#, cause that's like cranking presence and depth), crank the mids, use v30's or greenbacks and try el34's

nah. dont get me wrong I friggen  love the amp. Just didnt love my old PU's as much through it . did some mags swaps and put an a4 in the 59n and a rouchcast UOA5 in the brige and it sounded great .both had a better dose of mids

I love vintage mode for leads but rythtm modern is where its at for me

I love mine to DEATH. It is so Thick and doesn't have the fizzy high end normal dual recto's do.
One thing I suggest to make your Dual Rec sound even better is to buy a Port City cabinet. I was happy with my Roadster before the Port City cab, but it honesty made my amp 100 times better. The port lets out lots of mids and natural bass from the speakers which really makes amp tweaking a lot easier. Sorry for the off topic post, I just think everyone should have these cabinets  :lol:

I have never had the fizzy issue's many complain about with the rectos . not sure if its just some amps or its how I set it up . Sure if i run the gain way up past 3 oclock there's fizz but any amp with that much gain is going to be fizzy .
there are itmes I wish I went with the roadster. nothing to do with tone differencs just the extra channel would be handy for a nice mid gain tone . my 3 channel I have to run an od in front on the clean for light gain stuff

In my defence, I played with the Nailbomb pretty intensively for 24 hours and at no stage did I even begin to think it was for me in that particular guitar. I'd still consider it if I wanted a Metal pickup in a dark sounding Les Paul but nothing else.

Don't narrow it down just to a dark LP Like I said, I've heard it in two strats, and in the other one, it still sounds absolutely great. Just depends on the guitar, and it's not the brightest BKP.

And don't narrow it down to just Metal neither - I am NOT playing metal (unless you consider early Blue Oyster Cult as metal, that is) and I really like my ABomb bridge.
