Hi,

What Bill Lawrence is it - OBL, Bill Lawrence USA or one by Bill and Becky (aka Wilde)? I have a Bill and Becky one, and this is a very very loud pickup, louder than a Cold Sweat bridge and also louder than a Miracle Man. You will need a loud pickup to compete with that so I suggest either a Miracle Man or a Painkiller neck pickup. These should be the loudest BKPs going by spec - have not yet tested either of them.

Cheers Stephan

It' s an old OBL of the 1986...I would Tim rewire it because seems that works only one of the coils

Ah, OK - I have one of these, too - still a leftover from the late 80s. The OBL 500 XL is loud though not as loud as the Wilde one, has a lot of high midrange but not much treble. I played the OBL 500 XL for years with a PAF style neck humbucker so basically any type of pickup would work. To make a more distinct recommendation, what kind of guitar is the pickup going in, what are your musical styles, what kind of amp do you play and what do you want to get from the pickup?

Cheers Stephan

Stephan, thanks for infos I didn' t know the Wilde series are louder than old OBLs; I like it and these old days I think was the best couplin with a JCM800 for all solid rock sounds. Now it seems to me a little much compressed.  Searchin BK neck one for a "prototype" as  I' m a luthier; have a bunch of OBLs 500 L and XL and others so I' m trying to set them with one necks Tim' s pups. I use in the past only bridge ones: Painkillers and Warpigs for 7 and 8 strings guitars and they sounds absolutely fantastic, powerful, rich in harmonics and never "confused" like other brands...The final user of these guitars is definetively all "metal oriented"; if the experiment BL + BK fails I' ll choose BK calibrated sets for sure.
