Surgery in a week
« on: April 29, 2011, 03:52:42 AM »
so after two years of waiting i'm undergoing surgery for my inguinal hernia. it's nothing dangerous or life threatening but i'll still be out of comission for a good week at least and very slow for the other week.  next thursday is when i'm scheduled. there's no unblunt way to describe the condition but let's just say my intestine has become my third testicle XD.

going to undergo local anasthesia, first time i ever have to go to the hospital for surgery so i,m kind of nervous, but at the same time i try to have trust that my condition is not serious enough for them to $%&# me up!

send me vibes fellow players! i'll keep you posted even if you don't care ;)

All the best for you man. Local anasthetics? You could do it like Eddie on his hip replacement operation and assist them. But I guess you're not half as f$%ed up as he was/is.

Again, best of luck, think strongly about the positive outcome and all will be fine.

Good luck. Hope you don't find it too odd being cut up while awake... :)

a friend of mine had this exact problem years ago.

He said the worst & most painful bit was afterwards when he laughed or coughed

So just be careful not to be around smokers or funny people for a while after and you will be fine

Even with the local anaesthetic, presumably they'll cover up the "work area" so you don't have to watch....?

All the best, get well soon!

I've had an inguinal hernia op before, and think I've another coming. It's not too hard. Just plenty rest after it and don't try to lift ANYTHING for a good few weeks (and definitely no amps for a couple months). But it's not particularly painful afterwards.

Hope it all goes well, but I'm sure it will, it's a really straightforward op that surgeons do loads of. Good luck!

Oh! And a note. Shave yourself. If you let them do it it'll only end in terrible razorburn with their cheapo disposables.

Good luck. I have had a couple and in one case played a gig 4 days after the op ( albeit sitting down with my band mates lifting my gear about for me). I had general anesthetics though so not quite the same.

I'm kind of scared of general anasthesia and the doc said they usually go local. i'll listen to their advice

i've heard it's pretty common too so it's good to know. and of course i can imagine the coughing and laughing being painful afterwards. i'll take it real easy. it's a good thing i saved my vacation time for the op. cr@ppy way to spend a vacation however!

thanks everyone!

I've had similar surgery.
It's putting your socks on that's hard work afterwards

haha. thanks for the laugh. though yeah, i imagine even if it's a minor condition, it's still something to get used to afterwards.
