Eminence RW&B - Fendery Fun!
« on: May 10, 2011, 01:10:18 PM »
I was saving up for a couple of Weber 12F150s for my 2x12 cab that goes with my Fender Supersonic.  It had variously G12H30s, V30s, CL80s and variations of those - but being Celestions, they just didn't cut it in the Fender stakes - what ever combination they sounded, well, British.....

Anyway Blue Aran were selling a stock clearance of Eminence Red White and Blues - essentially a clone of the old (not new) Jensen C12 - 2 for the price of 1 weber looked like a deal.  And they are great - if you like the blackface crystal clear tone these speakers are the balls - finally the Vibrolux channel sounds like a Vibrolux.

I realise most people here are not fans of that sound and would stick  V30s in a Twin Reverb but if you want more a blackface era Fender tone to your amp, get these speakers coz they have it in spades.
BKPS: Milks, P90s, Apaches, Mississippi Queens, Mules, PG Blues, BG FP 50s, e.60s strat custom set

Then I'm definily not "most people here" ;)

FWIW, is this the supersonic 60W head you have ? I'm considering switching from the HRDx to a SS22 (the 60w version is way too loud for my needs), so any informed opinion is welcome...

Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)

Yep, its a 60w head - The 22w looks good to me, in fact it came out about a week after I bought the 60w head.  And given the Lightning Bolt speaker looks like it is a Red White and Blues, it has the right type of speaker in it already (the stock V30 on the 60w combo just sounds wrong!)

As to tone - its a pretty nice range.  Obviously not insane chug but it can do alot of classic tones.

The 22-watt version is appealing. A nice sounding amp for anything from clean to classic rock.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I'm a huge fan of Eminence speakers in Fender amps.
I've no experience of the RW&B but I've had a Cannabis Rex in a Deluxe Reverb, and currently have a Copperhead in a Princeton Reverb and 2 Legend 105s in a Vibrolux Reverb and have been extremely happy with all of them.

Eminence = the best value speakers.
Their 'British' range (Redcoats) are purported to be as good, if not better, than their Celestion equivalents, and much cheaper.

Big fan of the Jensen C12N here.

I've been thinking of combining it with a Celestion G12H in my 2X12.

Wich Eminence would be the equivalent of the G12H?

Wizards I believe

I've got one of them paired with a Swamp Thing in a Zilla 2x12 and they're very nice. I've been more than happy with Eminence so far.
