From what I gather now, Ill have to change the pot. What I'd like to know now is this.. Is there a name for the size of the shaft that the knob fits on? I'd like to keep the same knob on the new pot but I've noticed the shaft has smaller ridges on it than the pots on my other guitars.

more but smaller ridges usually means USA pot size like a CTS
larger but fewer ridges  usually means Oriental pot like an Alpha

You will also need to add an earth wire from the bridge assembly to the back of the pot

Oh god. I assume thats going to mean taking the bridge off and getting a drill to it :/

Nope dont worry.

I have done this with the exact same guitar (but with MM & MQ)

the volume pot is a 25k that is in there stock so you need to replace that.

The jack is fine and there is already a grounding wire as these particular actives are grounded.

So really all you need to do is replace the pot (alpha will drop straight in CTS you will need to widen the hole a bit)

And also disconnect that active eq i just removed all the wires and left the actual unit in and i keep meaning to replace it with a tight control but never get around to it

Same. I was just gonna leave the eq switch in it. Is the easiest place for the bridge wire hole from behind it to the bridge pickup cavity?

the bridge wire is already in there.

I cant remember where it comes from but i have a feeling it goes through the battery cavity under the cover.

Once you have removed everything else it will be easy to spot

i thought that at first but there is one.

if you remove the battery connecter completely and all the wires from pickups eq etc its quite easy to spot

You were correct Sir! All sorted although i have bought the wrong kind of volume pot it appears. I got an Alpha B type so the knob would fit properly. It doesnt do that much until you get right down the bottom then drops off like a kill switch lol. Ho-Hum. Ill get another in the post and sort it later in the week. I dont use it much its fine for now.

Where was it?

I cant 100% remember but i have a feeling it was under the battery holder.

I was stressing when i came to changing pickups in this guitar as i thought i would have to drill it and didnt want to.

How does it sound with the pigs?

I cant quite remember but i think that B are linear taper but should still work.

Could you have possibly got too much heat on it soldering the grounds?

 :minigun: maybe :P

the wire was straight into the connections cavity. being actives there seemed to be a load of extra wires in there. once id stripped out the old pups it was pretty obvious :)

It sounds ok with the pigs. They came out of my BC Rich WMD Warbeast. I was never really happy with the way they looked in it.

I have to say... the BC Rich with the original Rockfield Mafia/Fat Ass pup set back in it sounds a lot better than the Ibanez with the Warpigs in it. Im wondering if i need to add some kind of tone control to it.

what kind of sound are you getting?

If its a bit dull and soft sounding it could well be your pot.

Try hooking straight up to the output jack to check this.

I have tried a few pickups in the RGA42 and found the miracle man & aftermath sounded the best.

The MM more so it just matches really well with the tonality of the guitar

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't sound shite. I dont think its a fault. I was just expecting it to sound as good as they did in the warbeast. They sound a bit more brash than they were in the other guitar, in a way that would normally have me just tweak the tone knob down a bit.

In the reflection on your guitar, it looks like you have the skin of a severed leg hanging out the window.
