Hi all.
I'm new to this forum, I've been here from time to time and read some cool things about BKP's.
Are they really "that" good, acc to all the raves?
Well, what can I say, IMO YES!
I've used MM, VHII's,and the "best" so far for my taste, the "Holy Diver"!
I've been through a bunch of pick-ups during the years. The faves have been TomHolmes and the Fralins. + a 25 year old Duncan Custom which sounds awesome in my main LP, a 1970 LPC.
Amps...Soldano SLO's, old Marshalls, BadCat HotCat-100, a VOXAC-30HW, and a couple of Matchless amps.
The main amp is the SLO, with an old Marshall used as a slave. Killer tone.
No fx's....just a Budda Wah.
Ok, short intro.
These days I have to say the th BKP H.D's are the most transparent, fat clear, and greasy pick-ups I've ever used. They have exactly the right output to drive the amp into smooth fat overdrive. GREAT harmonics, it's like they "jump" out of the guitar.
A while back I got these from BKP (the new revised version with the alnicoV's) , for a replacement of some "boring-lifeless" JB's in my Jackson King-V Korina.
This guitar has never sounded better, and the H.D's will be there "forever".
Real cool!
Well worth looking into! Well worth the cash spent.
The MM's are also great, I use one in the bridge on my '68 LP (transferred from P-90's to 'buckers), with a TomHolmes 450 in the neck. Great tone.
Fat and greasy, great punch, ok...Zack in spades. And I get fat Hendix-type tones from the TomHolmes in the neck. This combo is something special.
The VHII's? I've just tried out these the last week. I'm not "sure yet" what I think about the VHII. I'll come back on these a bit later on.
Anyway, the BKP's are killer pick ups. I'll def. get another pair of the HD's to one of my LP's. Real cool to have found "the" pick-up that just make me smile everytime I plug into an amp.
What a pick-up a day makes! :D 8)
ROCK!!
