They are incredibly serious, and Joey DeMaio, in particular, is a totally humourless, complete and utter tool.

You didn't shell out the £300 to find this out in person did you?

God no.  But I did read a lot of interviews in the hundreds of issues of Kerrang! I bought before I finally got sick of it.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

I like some of their stuff. I have most of their discography, due to my mom. My mom loves Heavy metal/hard rock stuff.
Your music will never be as hard as this!

But technically there still is a tiny chance that they are the most subtle act of trolling in history.

At least I hope they're trolling.

I've always hated this sort of thing, but yeah... For some odd reason germans love this sort of drek.

No offence at all to any Germans on the forum, but they do seem to have a high tolerance of bands like Blind Guardian, Running Wild and all sorts of dodgy Power Metal.  I don't object to those bands musically, but their album artwork and lyrics...... men in their 40s singing about elves and pirates is a bit tough to take.  :|

I believe Germany has a tolerance for all kinds of dubious music across all genres.

Well, yeah. Just look at the lineup for Wacken every year. Simply because it's in Germany, there's always so many of these atrocious power-metal bands. If only I had some explanation as to why that stuff is so huge there, I could somehow understand it, maybe even learn to live with it.

But as it is, I get allergic reaction from just being geographically close to Germany.

I believe many other nations are simply quite intolerant to other types of music! I found that very often with Americans and British people. That said, music in the UK is sooooooo mainstream anyway....
Ok, in all fairness, a lot of people in Europe/Germany don't get how embarrassing the lyrics of some of those bands like Hammerfall, Manowar, Primal Fear etc. are. Though... who reads the lyrics anyway?

About Manowar: They're 50% of where Spinal Tap came from, what do you expect? The rest of Spinal Tap is just various other rock elements thrown in there (Yoko Ono for example). I listen to Manowar's stuff from time to time (works for the gym!), but I don't take them any more serious than Lordi, The Darkness, Misfits, Dimmu Borgir, Kiss, Immortal and so on.....
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

I don't think germany is more tolerant to types of music, I just think certain bands that aren't that good for whatever reason regardless of what style they play seem to get on well in germany, more so than in other places.

I will point out, that N'Sync broke Germany first, and then became well-known in the rest of the world after a year or so.

Hey, I was 10 years old. It was the only music on tv. Leave me alone..
