I play most of my gigs in Germany, and agree that people have a different, and in some ways better and more open taste there - which I'm actually quite happy about. I wouldn't say they liked stuff that was actually bad though, but maybe there have a higher tolerance to cheesiness or something like that.

It is a great place to go and play from my experience. I've had a bad time there too, but for the most part got places to sleep, got fed, generally been looked after really really well there. I think the weird goings on I know about kinda surrounding what I was involved with there are really the exception to what is otherwise a great place.

I know some bands that you could draw parallels between manowar and themselves, just with different lyrical content and a different image but just as serious. Every 'scene' has a manowar in it's closet, waiting to burst out.

I have a friend who has had terrible look over here gig wise but has been over to germany quite a few times and got a great reception.

And he is just an acoustic solo act (with incredibly cheesy & terrible vocals)

i find a lot of UK promoters I've dealt with don't really care about UK bands. They get away with it because a lot of bands never realise they are being taken advantage off. That probably happens in germany too, but I've never really felt like I've experienced it there.

Germans are really into a good party! I love the place to bits myself.

Yes really! I'm particularly fond of Bavarian brews. Oh and it's cheaper and less full of shite than uk beer. Don't get me wrong there a great ales to be had in the UK, I just think the Germans do it better.
