If a pub or club has no cold Newcastle Brown ale in glass, you will not find me in there.
Bottle of Dog is the brew for me I can't or won't drink anything else and Jim Beam Bourbon and Jack Daniels.
Some one told me Manowar were on Tizwas many moons ago, do's anybody remember what song they played,
I wonder if it was Battle Hymn.

Dog is all right, but it's not a great beer by a long shot.

The UK has some fantastic beers. Okay, not so many if you're a lager drinker (I can't stand the stuff, personally), but even then there are some top notch UK lager-style beers. Circle master from Wychwood breweries, for example.

Not against Germany, though - there are some really nice Dunkelbiers that I like a lot. Would love to play over there some time, getting a decent crowd would be great!

its all the big-brand ales that are full of cr@p - I'm talking small independents who you find in the better real ale pubs.  We have Wylam, Jarrow Brewery and Mordue up here (off the top of my head) who are all great.

I've just finished a project which is going to allow a certain UK brewer to dramatically increase it's capacity for brewing (really shitee) beer.  Nearly broke my heart.

I think the Germans do some mighty fine lagers (it's even a German word), so they must know a thing or two about it.  I'm not a massive lager fan, but there are some good ones out there.  It has a bit of a bad name nowadays as the mast produced, quickly brewed piss water has taken over the market (Lager means 'to store'), but if you look hard enough you can find something nice.  M&S have one in a green bottle (Czech I think) that's really good.

But I'm with most people on here, I drink ale and think manowar are cr@p

Normally a Guinness ("original") or Newcaslte Brown man if i cant find a nice ale, but I'll often pick up some of the wychwood ales for consumption at home. my brother has taken delivery of a 35 pint barrel of real ale  from his local for his birthday bash this weekend, hopefully its a good'un.

I am now working for the enemy - that big brewer that took over from bass.  in fairness they seem a relatively good company to work for, but i still don't like their bloody beers   (apart from worthington white shield).  shame really because they have a free bar after 4.30 on thursdays and fridays  :(

it does mean i can pop to burton bridge brewery for a lunchtime pint though

Sure it will work out mate.

If it's any consolation, I'm stuck in a career and in an industry that I should have got out of years ago and it sucks like woman in an Afgan Dave comment.

I'm on the same... I work in shifts, got paid more the double payment than my brother who is making PhD, works in a technical school and soon shall work in a university...
But I hate my work... I don't stop making plans to leave... Hopefully will be able soon...

On the good side, as I pay everymonth a few bucks for "Great Risk" on the health plan, my surgery I had to pay nothing and will pay nothing on the one that is being scheduled...
