Over the weekend I took an old BKP Blackguard Flat 50 (now designated Flat 52) bridge pickup from a Telemaster project I built a while back and combined it with a brand new Flat 50 neck purchased from Jonathan at Feline Guitars and dropped them into my Philippe Dubreuille Tele. They replace some Fender Custom Shop pickups that came with the guitar and I like the BKPs much better.

As I had a spare afternoon on Sunday I dug out the SM57 and did a quick recording of clean(ish) tones at neck, neck + bridge and bridge positions to show how versatile the new pickups are. I didn't change the amp settings, the mic placement or anything else during the recording. I added a little compression on the last section but other than that the EQ was untouched too - mostly to give a clearer impression of the difference in tones available. I really love these pickups in this guitar, it's a good match to my ears. Very happy.

Very nice.

I've finally got around to recording some slightly more overdriven tones this afternoon using my trusty TS-808. Tried to show all the pickup positions and played with a mixture of pick and fingers to give some idea of the range of tones. Hope it's useful to someone. Warning, quite a bit of guitar face here.

Quite pleased with Albert Collins-y bridge ice-pick tone.

Nice stuff again. Love that Tele!
Thanks and so do I: I think it's probably the best guitar I own. I'm also really pleased with the Callaham knobs though they do mean I no longer have any excuse not to practice volume swells. :)
