Warpigs in standard tuning?
« on: January 14, 2006, 07:00:33 PM »
I've got the impression that warpigs are at their prime with detuned guitars, however I use standard tuning but I want the pickup to have some saturation to *really* drive the preamp. Is the 'Pig too bass heavy for standard tuning or does it give a clear sound with serious in-your-face attitude?

The thing is that I have my preamp's (peavey rockmaster) gain on tap but still need a bit more edge without using pedals.

The Warpigs sound fine in standard tuning, I had my axe tuned to standard for a while and they sounded fine.

I have my Warpig equipped guitar in standard tuning now. Sounds great. I've rolled the contour knob of my overdrive pedal back a little for more mids and less highs and bass. Great 90's metal tone a la Hetfield.
