"imho, the painkiller begins to shine when you tune lower, due to the tight bottom end. Its a tad too much in std tuned guitars. From C and below its just godly."

I have to agree with this.  I have a set of painkillers (my first BKP) in a Mahogany body, super-strat, with a maple neck and rosewood fret board.  I use to tune it to C, but now to B-standard; and it sounds very godly!  Especially when the speakers on my cab start to break up.

If you tune to C-standard, I think you will really like the painkiller.

I tune to C sharp sometimes to C but allways droped...No doubt PK is made for me...

"Yeah..Thatīs reason why I wasnīt 100% sure about Painkiller because I know that some people donīt like his sharp highs even thin sound....But itīs always summary of factors as guitar body material, amp, speakers etc....I think that it will work properly in my guitar...."
To my ears the Painkiller's highs really weren't that sharp and definitely not piercing.  I mean they were compared to other Bare Knuckle Pickups, but BKP's have much smoother highs than most other brands of pickups (even other boutique brands), which I actually really dislike.  When I play on the bridge I want sharp, aggressive highs and the Painkiler barely had enough for my taste.  Don't get me wrong, I love BKP, but I wish they had pick ups that sounded more raw and ballsy, as opposed to the overly refined and polished sound they generally have, which I think takes away from the aggression.  So, basically unless you're a real pussy about shrill high end, the Painkiller should be great.

I found thread on Sevenstring.org about custom order alnico 8 Painkiller...The guy wrote:

"" Being the Painkiller, I expected it to be very articulate and tight, with total aggression. I did request the magnet to be an Alnico 8 versus the stock ceramic as I have fallen in love with the sound of the A8 magnets. The result is a very, very dynamic pickup with an aggressive stance, but still soft spoken. When you dig in it sings, but it doesnt get extremely vocal like my full shreds do. It retains every bit of character, a very 3D sound. The only other time I have heard what people call 3D is on the clean channel. This pickup just has an incredible range of tone, and the balancing act is what makes it sound so great.""

Time to send mail to Tim...

Simply have an alnico V magnet in a Miracle Man  instead of the Ceramic and the mids will be much higher with less bass and a little less treble.

In fact you could just use a neck position MM in the bridge as it is pretty much the same spec winding.

Funnily enough I have one of those for sale!

Yeah youīre right...I still have not decided which one...That youtube clip /bellow/ push me to think go for Aftermath....Compare to Painkiller it has less low end and less top end...In fact is a bit dry but nice agressive mid crunchy...My Framus Dragon has ton of low end even with deep knob off and also has kinda "mesish" sizzly top end that can be pretty bright....
