wanted middier Miracle Man
« on: June 21, 2011, 07:22:03 PM »
Hi to everyone...I got MM for my all mahogany Viper and Iīm realy happy with tone..It sound acurate when I play through my Krank Revolution+ head because it has ton of mids and itīs bright and chunky...I want next BK humbucker for my another guitar which is all mahogany as well but I use it often with my other amp Framus Dragon which is quite dark..So Iīm looking for pickups with nearly same character as MM but with more mids...I play mostly HC/Thrash/Death stuff and I love chunky palm mute rifs like S.O.D...Anthrax...Exodus....I think that Aftermath or Painkiller but you know..I need some help....Thank you....
have CWP,MM...had AM,CS,VHII,NB,PK,HD...

Simply have an alnico V magnet in a Miracle Man  instead of the Ceramic and the mids will be much higher with less bass and a little less treble.

In fact you could just use a neck position MM in the bridge as it is pretty much the same spec winding.

I actually asked Tim about that and said that the neck MM for the bridge would be "too sweet and polite" for agressive styles.

Hm..Alnico..I have tried before alnico Nailbomb and I wasnīt very impressed..Too dark for my taste..I like heavy sound clip of Holy Diver but it wouldnīt work in mahogany.I would better stay with ceramic..What you guys think about Aftermath in dark mahogany guitar?

The aftermath works very well in mahogany.

however it isnt like the miracle man.

its very dry and middy with considerably less bass & high end.

It is a very balanced clean & precise sound that is not as saturated as the miracle man.

I asked Tim about getting a custom pup that had the aggression & snarl of the MM whilst retaining the lows & highs but having the mids and precision of the aftermath and he said i had just described the painkiller.

I prefer it in basswood to mahogany though i feel it has a lot more grunt.

What i do with my MM equipped mahogany guitar when i want more mids is either turn the mids up

or use my ts808 to boost the mids and cut the lows some.

The high end on the MM alone should be perfectly fine for a dark amp.

Maybe a ceramic Nailbomb, although I haven't tried that pickup.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Maybe I shoud go for Painkiler..As someone said PK is oposite of MM in therm of mids..
MM-lower mids
PK-upper mids

Pretty sure you want a Painkiller, from what you've described.

If somebody described the PK to me like that, I'd want one too for the first time...
a lot more sense in that than in the ususal "Painkiller...  piercing upper mid, djent, djent, djent" talk.

Yeah..Thatīs reason why I wasnīt 100% sure about Painkiller because I know that some people donīt like his sharp highs even thin sound....But itīs always summary of factors as guitar body material, amp, speakers etc....I think that it will work properly in my guitar....

imho, the painkiller begins to shine when you tune lower, due to the tight bottom end. Its a tad too much in std tuned guitars. From C and below its just godly.

I have to agree with this.  I have a set of painkillers (my first BKP) in a Mahogany body, super-strat, with a maple neck and rosewood fret board.  I use to tune it to C, but now to B-standard; and it sounds very godly!  Especially when the speakers on my cab start to break up.

If you tune to C-standard, I think you will really like the painkiller.
