that's pretty good for the first couple of tries, i'd have thought. :)

well i am happy with the actual results - but not happy with them as 'swirls'.  loads of great examples of the process on youtube... but i guess it all comes down to getting the feel for it

ah yeah i see what you mean- they look good but aren't necessarily swirls, kind of thing.

i think i like the first one best too. but i agree with philly, i'm not that fond of the red/white look. you need more crazy colours, like blues, yellows, oranges, pinks and greens :D

I only just got round to watching that clip - very impressive!  From just some coloured paint floating on water, it's almost miraculous how well it turns out!  :D

Does that guy sell bodies on eBay?  I'm sure I've seen some very similar.

yeah i definitely like them on the right style of guitar. I wouldn't want one on vintage telecaster, say, but on an 80s superstrat or the like they look badass.

out of this swirled has a bunch on its site.

i think the colours make a difference too... obviously multi neons takes you straight down the vai route.  i like simpler schemes.

love the outofthisswirled site, they are so bloody perfect!

Just been checking it out - the amount of control they manage to exercise over such a seemingly random process is amazing!  :D

I'd like to see it on a few more non-Ibanez guitars.  I love the way the patterns go right up the neck and headstock on the V gwEm posted.

hard to see on that if it was done at the same time.  i suspect neck and body were dipped seperately - you need a bloody big tub to dunk a full guitar.. nice though, when you see a through neck thats been done

Call me an old-fashioned luddite, but...

The later ones getting posted, that some of you guys seem to like, do not grab me at all.

I do have a sneaking regard for your first attempt Wez - kinda raspberry ripple :D. Second one, should grab me more, because I like the colours involved, but... er, not for me

Very cool how it's done!!

see the vid i linked to for a proper example

basically a large container full of water and borax to break the surface tension (i think I may have needed a little more of this), then you pour oil based enamel paint onto the water and swirl it about a bit.  slowly dunk the guitar

I saw it, just as I said, it's really cool as it's done... I had no idea before this video
