David Haye's world heavyweight title showdown with Wladimir Klitschko

Ok, I love boxing and I love British champions but I want Haye to get the cr@p knocked out of him tonight... It saddens me to not be patriotic but I think the cr@p he talks and the plan to retire at 31 rubbish makes a joke of the sport I love.

Don't say it is just to sell the fight - there are plenty of reasons why that isn't true.

Shame I can't support "our guy" tonight.  :(

I think he's going to get leathered daft off Klitschko. Which pleases me a great deal.

Well yeeeessss......, I don't like him much either, and the "retire at 31" business is particularly silly. 

It was good to see him beat Audrey though (an even bigger ringpiece).  And I wouldn't actually be upset if he beat Wladimir, just to see if there was any possibility of him also taking on Vitali before that retirement date.

Oh I agree about Harrison, I was behind Haye on that one. Harrison used to mug my mates in London NW9 back when we were at school... The big TW@T.

I'm surprised one of your mates didn't punch him - he'd have instantly lost all heart for mugging, got a bit tearful and run away.  Unfortunately after a few days he'd have managed to convince himself he was, after all, a world-class mugger and he'd be back on the streets of NW9.

After reading your story Dave I kind of found a new respect for Audley. He obviously saw the error in his ways and in taking up boxing found a way of mugging people in a totally non violent way.

He's kind of screwed up both of his career paths now as well. The boxing world doesn't take him seriously and old ladies now know that one swift whack with the hand bag will have him covering up whilst furiously back pedalling.

EDIT - I'm not suggesting your mates are old ladies Dave. Not for one minute. Not at all.

So, who watched it?  I have to rely on the written summary - when I saw the result I thought "hmmm, you'll never get a points decision in Germany".... but it sounds like he really was well beaten?

i watched it. i didn't think he was really well beaten. Vladimir had the reach and slightly more composure when it was needed. Haye couldn't really get past the jab but he got a few big shots in. It looked to me like Haye had trained hard and hadn't really underestimated his opponent regardless of what went on in the build up. He took some big hits and didn't seem too upset. There were points were I though Vladimir looked shook, but Haye wasn't following up enough fast enough to take advantage of anything dangerous that he put out there. It's like he really was just relying on getting one lucky shot at some random point by trying to get Vladimir to make mistakes. I don't think Haye really got a thrashing but the opposition won kind of comfortably.

His footwork was attrocius, apparently he had a broken toe. Seriously boring fight, Klitschko had no real interest in boxing with Haye, just kept him at range with the jab, and leaned on him whenever he got inside. Haye started going to his knees at the merest touch of the shoulder after the 7th as well.

Yeah, he wasn't slaughtered but it was a comfortable win for Klitschko. He's been a crying child in the aftermath too.

Shame we wont get to see Vitali flatten him now.
