Thanks for your kind words lads!  :D  :D

The bass player is bloody amazing! He has a lovely Ash bodied Fender Jazz with a maple neck. Going into a 350w Ampeg stack. It's sounds perfect. The drummer is no mug either with a cool looking white Premier kit.
We all have a lot to work on but with lots of home work learning our parts it could work out really well.  They're both really positive and enthusiastic too. Nothing like the other blokes I was rehearsing with. I'm loving playing my Tele practising Blockheads songs. They're great fun to play but also very challenging. There's a lot more going on in those songs when you listen to them closely.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention. They f*cking love my Koch!  When I wheeled it into the room they took time to admire it.  :D They said it made a wondeful sound when I used it. Haha!

Are they friends who have worked together before.  If they have a good groove going on between them, then I'm sure you're going to love playing with them.

I was at school with the bass player but we haven't seen each other since we left 29 years ago. We got into guitars together at school funnily enough and did jam a few times back then so we're picking up where we left off!
I haven't met the drummer before. He is a great drummer and he owns the rehearsal studios where we were on Monday night, so that's handy Harry!  :D

That's really great - sounds like they are both good blokes.  If you're all into the same stuff, then it could work out really well for you.  I hope it does, and you can get a band together.

We had a singer at our rehearsal on Wednesday. He done a great job on the lyrics. He enjoyed it so it looks like we have him on board. He has around 15 years live experience. We added Clever Trevor & Wake Up and Make Love With Me to the list, so we're getting the songs learnt very quickly. I didthe big solo at the end of Rythym Stick ' with the vocalist shouting out hit me withthe string bends. Great stuff. I'm still buzzing!  :D

I've been a bit quiet on posting anything on this Ian Dury Trib' project. It was really going well. I've been playing and learning so much of his songs since last summer. Some of which I've never played the like of before. Hours and hours of private practise on my trusty Tascam Guitar Trainer. Then loads of rehearsing in the studio and with the bass player at his house. All day sometimes. Our last rehearsal was, if I'm allowed to blow on a trumpet of my own, electrifying. I was buzzing so much I barely slept for a few days after as all i wanted to do was get it to the giging stage. We all felt like that. We just needed a keys and sax player. Meanwhile our singer had a court case hanging over him which, after a long trial got him a 6 month sentence. He did get out after 2 months but we couldn't rehearse as he had an ankle tag on and had to be home in the evenings, as part of the deal to let him out 4 months early.

So..

After all the aggro with our singer getting 2 months for fraud, then a tag on his ankle to keep him under curfew we finally got a rehearsal set again for next week with a keyboard player and Sax player.
On Wednesday night, the bass player and drummer, who are in a different band together had a gig... This band is basically backing for a singer/songwriter. He is well established on the gig circuit so I'm told. He has management and a recording deal. The drummer has been with him 2 years and got the bass player in there. So they all have a pint to settle their nerves in a pub. All except  the drummer, who has 9 pints of Stella, in the bar at the venue. Rule No1. Don't get drunk when you're playing a gig. He was shouting out obsenitys, going out of time, playing drums on a ballad that didn't have any drums composed on it. Then smashed his drum kit up at the end Keith Moon style. The management sacked him this morning. My mate said he doesn't ever want to see him again. He was livid. I would be too. What a cnut.

Oh well if at first you don't succeed....

Tell me about it mate! With 'The power of Facebook'  I think I've got a new drummer already. Fingers crossed. He is a semi pro with a good function band who are a bit quiet at the moment. He loves ID & The Blockheads, lives nearby and he is another Spurs fan, so should fit right in. I'm praying this is going to work out as it's heartbreaking to let all this hard work go to waste.
