Alnico Warpig or Aftermath?
« on: July 10, 2011, 02:04:17 PM »
Hi!

I've two guitars, both trem equipped: one is Caparison TAT: maple neck-through alder wings and ebony fretboard. The other one is Caparison Dellinger: mahogany body with bolt-on maple & ebony neck. I've them C tuned with heavy gauge (.68), playing sort of death & doom metal and I'm wondering about which PU would be better for each one: Aftermath or Alnico Warpig....of course, other suggestions are welcome!  :D.

I'm not considering C-Pigs because I've 3 of them installed on other guitars and want to change the sonic registry.

Thank you!!!

Did you say doom?

Alnico Warpig all the way! The Aftermath may be too surgical for doom, but it can probably work. If you want to try both just for the sake of variety, the Aftermath will work better on the Dellinger.

Aftermath is the opposite of doom.

Warpig IS doom.

Thank you guys.

And what about a Miracle Man for the maple-thru-alder  one or a walnut body?.

Emperoff, I followed your recomendation about the Nailbomb on it, but I didn't like very much the combination, you finally is mounted on a light mahogany-bodied bolt-on guitar

The Nailbombs are somewhat "picky" about the guitar they go in, so maybe it wasn't the right fit for your guitar or your tastes.

The Warpig sounds killer on a Jackson soloist type of guitar, but Tim usually reccomends the Miracle Man for maple neck thru guitars as well. Considering you have a ton of Pigs already, maybe you should give it a try ;)

I was tempted to buy the Alnico warpig, but I ordered a Holydiver first. If I don't like it in the alder-maple, will install it on other guitar and then buy the alnico-pig.
