I was looking at the other pictures thinking that artwork's not bad really, then................ Ouch!  :o

its not uncommon to see big chunks of metal added, tends to be a diy dad kind of fix

I repaired a window frame like that once!

To be fair to the bloke, he is quite open about it all in his blurb. I was expecting a load of bullsh1t in his write-up, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I've seen some "industrial" repairs to the opposite ends of SG necks, where they meet the body. 

Doesn't seem such a bad idea, since SG neck joints are notoriously weak.  Adding some screws and a pseudo-Fender-style neck plate probably does no harm.

It does have a certain vibe. If it didn't have all the artwork and all looked as battered I'd play it.

I'd pretend I was backing Tina Turner in the Thunderdome, too, probably.

That chunk of metal at the back might be good for attaching it to a wall hanger..?
