Hope it works for you. I'm with BigB when it comes to the Crawler. It's not overly midheavy. I think it's balanced, with enough bite. Works great, especially in bolt-on-guitars. Fiddling with the height gives total different results. Bear that in mind with the NB too.

When I called BK, and explained that I really wanted to add a cover, he advised the nailbomb.
He said with a cover, it would be tonally similar to the open crawler.

At this point I'm not convinced I've made the right choice and will be returning it for a refund when it arrives on monday.

It doesn't appear that these guys really know their product line enough to make educated recommendations.

Sorry guys but I'll be looking elsewhere for my needs.

That sounds really strange from BK. I wouldnt say the nailbomb covered sounded nething like the Crawler open. The cover only makes the tiniest of differences tbh. Strange...

I thought when they add covers to BKP's they slightly increase the top end to compensate.

I had an Alnico Nailbomb with a cover and it sounded absolutely NOTHING like either a JB or the Holydiver I ended up with. I would agree with the earlier comment that it's far more aggressive and abrasive so would have been the last thing I would have suggested for what he was after. Sadly, it seems to me that if he wanted a pickup with the broad characteristics of a JB but MUCH better to put in a superstrat then the answer was easy and should have been a Holydiver but now he's going elsewhere and will miss out on a really awesome pickup. My impression is that the Abomb is the default recommendation at BKP and I can't understand why that should be.
BKP owned:

Bridge - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; A-Bomb; Holydiver; Miracle Man; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Neck - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; Holydiver; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Well, you might want to give it a try first, but I really doubt it will fit your bill. And the cover won't make much difference...

I don't know who exactly answered your phone call, but I'm really surprised - in a bad way. One of the strong points of BKP - beside the products quality - has always been service and "educated recommandations". As far as I'm concerned, Tim only missed the point once, and I can't blame him since I wasn't really sure about what I was looking for.

Tim, if you read this (and I hope you will), it looks like there's a problem in your team...

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion from one person who obviously was biased in the first place.  I deal with the guys at BK a lot and if you ask something that they don't know, they they'll put you onto someone else.   I would have to see a few people complaining before I'd think there was an issue.

Not that "obviously" to me - and please note that I said "it looks like", not "there is" - I wasn't there and I'm trying to put the blame on anyone, just being very suprised about what the OP reports, and I have no reason to doubt his sincerity so far.

You may be right, but word of mouth works both way, and it's way easier to get bad rap than good one, so whatever really happened, I think it's worth paying attention to i, and that was the only point here (oh, and please remember english is not my mother's language, so I may not use the right nuance or whatever).
