Please recommend budget guitars
« on: July 26, 2011, 01:59:47 PM »
Hey guys just wondered whether you could recommend me some budget guitars to which i could change the stock pickups and create a new monster.
The guitar must be:
-Singlecut
-Mahogany body
-have 2 humbuckers
-upto £300

Thanks in advance!

If you're feeling a bit adventurous, try and dig up some sort of old "Lawsuit" copy Les Paul from the 70s-80s. They can be found everywhere, and after a good setup most of them are absolutely lovely guitars.

There is so many. Why don't you try Cort? the CR or the Xenox series. Theres the PRS Tremonti. Or you could even get an Epiphone Les Paul.

2 humbuckers are for ugly people. Buy a gibson melody maker

There's a couple of used Epiphones and Ibanezs that fit your description and price range (mostly) at TC Ellis. I think they sold their model 2 (LP style) for around 300£ a year ago or so. Worth checking out.

Cheers guys really appreciate your replies.
I already have a PRS SE Custom 24 so would like to try a different guitar. The Epi's could be an option but the ones i have tried always feel chunky. Any suggestions for ibanez models? thanks

Vintage or recent?  I don't think you're likely to see an old one in this price range.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I'm in the market for similar specs. Check out the AXL Badwater 1216, Sx, and Agile.

EDIT:
Also, the Ibanez ART100.

The new ones. You're right about the older ones. They will cost a bit more, but are in general the better guitars.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
