Basically, selling your music online.
I know you have to get an UPC code for your song/album (if anyone has recommendations, where to get them for a reasonable amount of money, that isn't a scam.. we only found CD Baby after a half minute search on the subject)
Also (this is actually the big-er question in the matter), does the UPC code cover copyright, internationally.
The thing is, we want to put some stuff on Youtube and also sell it on iTunes and similar sites, but we're not quite sure how to tackle the copyright. If we go to .. uhh.. it's kind of the equivalent of the RIAA over here, BUT the catch is, they're basically an insurance company, but with the difference, you NEVER see anything from them, EVER (i've seen them threaten to sue performers over their own songs) so we want to avoid those thieving sacks of shite.
An alternative is, that we go to a small label and try to get signed there, BUT knowing the state of the music industry and market in this country, i know we wont get anywhere with that bit.
So we would like to go the route of doing everything ourselves for the time being (promo and distro), which brings me back to the UPC code stuff.
Could someone who released their music on iTunes explain this? As in depth as possible, if you could.
Thanks
