^ ^ they probably are in my case too  , but at the same time when i see how many *insert other expensive item they happen to like* they have (or even just one if it's expensive), it seems a bit hypocritical. Most people in the west have stuff they don't "need". :)

^ tell her she can only wear one pair of shoes at a time...

Our lass does have LOADS of pairs of shoes, she gave a bin-liner full to the local charity shop before xmas, but still has enough to start off a shoe store.  The thing is, she is also the thriftiest person I've ever known and nets mega-bargains all the time.  I need to get her into guitars so she can nose-out guitar bargains

@Slartibartfarst42:

Owning three guitars is nothing over the top (and I've had a single one for 20 years). Yeah sure, you can't play three guitars at once, and chances are you'll have a favorite one you end playing most of the time, but that doesn't mean you _should_ get rid of the others. I can only second darkbluemurder: take some times to experiment with all three guitars, eventually try swapping pups, well, let things settle a bit before you decide. If you really don't have a use AND can't see one for the Jackson, the by all mean sell it and use the money for something that suits you better, but wait until you're pretty confident you won't regret it.

My 2 cents...
Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)

ahahahahahaha

but yeah get her into guitars, then. if she knows you're getting bargains she might complain less. :D

I mean I don't care less what other people spend their money on (as long as it's not hitmen or something crazy like that, obviously), just i don't like it when they try to tell me (or anyone else) how to spend it. :)

In 2007 I sold a guitar I liked a lot because it spent more time on it's case under my bed than being played. I also thought I could use the money on something else. I spent the next 4 years trying to buy it back, and had to buy it for the double I got for it.

Sometimes we don't know how much we need something until it's gone. Just food for thought. Sorry if it sounded lame.

I've seen at least four of my old guitars re-appearing on eBay and most times I've been tempted to buy them back.  Recently there was my Edwards "Jeff Beck" Les Paul which had somehow ended up in Spain - I would've bought that one but I was determined not to pay more than I sold it for!

that's what always puts me off selling stuff... unless i absolutely hate it and/or never, ever use it, i normally hang onto it, as i'd feel a right prat if i had to lose money to get it back

You always need a good backup for your #1 guitar and it seems to me that only the Jackson lives up to that, if I understood correctly.

If any, I'd sell the Yamaha!
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

What a coincidence!!

The Yamaha was my backup and to make sure it was of decent quality, I installed the Seymour Duncans I took out of the Jackson and got a luthier (Chris George if anyone knows him. His guitars were very positively reviewed in Guitarist magazine) to do a full set up, fret dress and neck shim on it. It does play really well now; I'd say as well as most MiM Strats I've tried but my wife phoned 5 minutes ago to say someone at her work might be interested in it. I'd take the Seymour Duncans out of it and Schaller straplocks off it but even at that I reckon it's a cracking guitar for £100. If it does sell then my decision is made for me and I keep the Jackson and PRS, which is handy as that's the way I was leaning anyway  :D

Problem solved  :D

The Yamaha is now sold. I'll take the Seymour Duncan pickups out of it in the next couple of days and reinstall the originals so I'm now left with two guitars, both of which are superb. I'm actually thinking of using the PRS and Jackson for about 50% of the set each anyway and either could do the whole set by themselves as well if need be. I'd toyed with also selling the Seymour Duncans but I think I'd better keep them just in case I do sell the Jackson in the years to come when I get too old to play as I'll get more money selling the Bareknuckles separately.

i'm a great fan of waiting to see if problems solve themselves. Sometimes you get caught out, of course, but a lot of the time you're glad you waited. :)

That's why I usually suppress spontaneous GAS-attacks.  :)

yeah same here. I'm not saying I don't have GAS, I have ridiculous GAS, but unless I come upon a killer limited-time deal, I normally think about a purchase for weeks or months (if not longer  ).

For the first time since I started playing guitar, I actually think I'm GAS free at the moment! It's a new experience and no doubt it won't last but for the time being I am perfectly content with the gear I have  8) Both guitars are fantastic, both have really good pickups, I like the amp and I don't see a pressing need for more pedals. I seem to have reached at least a temporary Nirvana.

I'm sure you have the right approach, Dave.

I'm always impulse-buying then regretting it.  I'm getting a bit better about realising my mistakes, being decisive and just sending them back, but even then you lose a few quid on shipping.
