I think the Blackmore amp sounds different then Marshall(-clones).
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

This is true, but it is extremely versatile and I was trying to think of an amp that would cover both of his bands and have the extra gain on tap he seems to like. If it had to be Marshall, the YJM should be good, as should the Slash model. Other than that, perhaps Blackstar?

I had the Blackmore. Kept it for maybe six months. Didn't sound bad at first, but it had a nasty high end zing to it that drove me nuts.
Build quality was cheapish, as with most Engls...
And no, it doesn't sound like a Marshall, but it will do everything from classic rock to metal. Quite flexible.
A shame about that frequency, otherwise I did like the amp.

A cheap alternative might be one of the Bugeras, perhaps the 333XL. Early ones had reliability issues but I believe that's a thing of the past now and the tone always sounded good to me. Would a Hughes & Kettner Trilogy do the job? They can get a kinda Marshally sound, though H&K tend to have a modern edge to the tone. Laney VH100R? I've not tried one myself but I hear good things.

Why don't you look at a Marshall JVM? God knows that's versatile enough and will give you the Marshall tone you want. I suppose another possibility would be to use something like a Marshall DSL for the basic Marshall tone you'll use most of the time and then a multi FX unit for the odd time you need the tone of other amps.

I think I'd try the Marshall JVM as they should do all you want and you can pick a 410H up on Ebay for about £600.

Bugeras sound awful, I must say.

May not be exactly what you're looking for, but you ought to check out the Traynor Ironhorse and Carvin V3M.
If you can hold on, for a minute, the PRS SE amps sound amazing.
Praise the Sunn.

The new Laney Ironheart perhaps?
I can vouch for the Carvin V3 as very flexible.
