I think it looks great.

What's obeche like as a fingerboard wood?

Obeche is kinda like ebony from what I've read up on it but I've never played anything with it. Gibson are releasing some new guitars with it like the nes les paul studio gothic

Yep, the Mira X is obeche.  It's very light and seems quite soft (although I'm not about to test that by whacking it with a hammer....)  I don't think it's dark-coloured either.

Maybe "obeche" is one of those generic terms which covers loads of different types of wood?

hmm. i always thought of obeche as a bit like basswood or poplar.  plain, pale, pretty boring.  just looked up the properties and  it backs up my assumptions

are gibson cooking their wood again?

i actually have an obeche body blank in the workshop

Yep, PRS were calling it "African basswood" at first, then they changed their minds and started calling it "obeche".

It really is amazingly light, my Mira X is only a fraction over 5 pounds.

wow great feline V! u should def make more. I was just about to say that the gibson v would look better with block inlays (like the zakk version) and maybe black binding too. To Feline guitars- can you make that type of V but with 24 frets? or would u have to change the scale length to do it?

I like V's, but I can't get on with them somehow. That Feline looks great.

I played my first ever Flying V a few weeks ago. I loved the feel and the tone. I have never been a fan of the looks but I now see them in a new light. The one pictures here look damn good to me. One day it'll be Roo saying something like that about Telecasters though I doubt where it will be in my lifetime.

24 frets are no problem.......we would just shift the bridge up a little

it is weird... the explorer tremolo uses ebony. Dunno why they just didn't use ebony on the v, too. :?

Don't like the explorer as much, though (dunno why, i normally do like explorers). Maybe it's just the white, it looks weird in white whereas the v looks more "normal" (though more colour choices for each model would be good).

Why do they insist on the black headstock? It makes the guitar look cheap to me.
Other than that, and the dubious choice of fretboard wood (maybe it's a typo?) this is quite a cool guitar.

I do love that Lonnie Mack V.

But I must say this new Floyd-ed version is one of the better looking recent V variants.
