More info from Paul himself - a discussion of neck thickness just for Philly!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFE2YKMjs2U&feature=related

That was good!  :D   I like listening to Paul Gilbert, he's intelligent and (this'll sound weird but....) he has a good speaking voice.

Well, wouldn't be too bad if he says the thickness of the neck, right?

From what he's saying I'm a bit worried they've slimmed it down too much compared with the original korina version.... but maybe not.

There was a video in this month's Guitarist mag, is that the one Dave's put a YouTube link to?  If so, I watched it fascinated as Paul Gilbert is a) a superb player and b) such a nice guy!

I never get over that. It proves you can be truly gifted without the need to be a conceited.

A totally nice bloke, who BTW replys to your emails!   :P

Different video but I'll seek out the Guitarist interview too. I am very much enjoying the collective forum man-crush on Paul Gilbert (I include myself) :) - he just comes across so well and I like that within the world of shred he's really doing his own thing with pickup choices, string thicknesses and so on. One of the few shred players who I really enjoy listening to both on records and in interview.

Alright, I just called Thomann.

They have a few coming at the end of January - almost all of this shipment is already allocated. They advise pre-ordering now via their website since they don't know when they can get another shipment.

I'm tempted I can tell you!!

But resisting for now.

In fact, I'm going to leave it.

The price is right, and its a cool guitar and all, but something about that red finish... and you know what - I have some really nice strats, plus my Yamaha SGV (modded with a Paul Gilbert injector).

Blimey, it's hard work getting one of these isn't it?  :?

But thanks for the info!  Now.... what to do....?

Hmmmm, it's tempting.... and the price seems pretty reasonable (not that I have anywhere else to compare to).

What happens with Thomann when something's out of stock?  Do they charge your credit card up front?
