Pickup selection
« on: August 25, 2011, 08:53:20 PM »
I own a jackson rr with alder body, maple neck and ebony fingerboard with 22 frets, string thru body and emgs in it.I'm tuned to drop B with 11-56 and i go sometimes down to A or up to C.I play as i lay dying/parkway drive/august burns red/killswitch engage/miss may I(love the tone from their apologies are for the weak album)/whitechapel and mostly metalcore/deathcore.I had 81-85(bridge/neck) and then 85-81.I liked the 81 tone in the bridge, but lacked in tightness and bass. Then with the 85 it had a little too much but it was hell ;)
So,i'm looking to a tone which focuses on the midrange and bass.I'm between aftermaths/nailbombs/warpigs.Which of those do you suggest?i've also heard good things about the painkiller(?).I play for now on a hand made setting on guitar rig 4 and i will be getting a bugera trirec(hope that turns out to be good).

Thanks for your time! :)

I think Aftermath or Painkiller is what you're looking for.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

How about the bombs?i've read good things for them and people are preffering those for low tuned guitars.
If anyone could guide to choose between those three sets?(nailbombs, painkillers, aftermaths)

The C-bomb is an option too, however if you want focus on the midrange and bass in a downtuned guitar, I think Aftermath/Painkiller are the way to go.
Just my 2 cents.

My vote goes for the aftermath. I have both, aftermath and painkiller, and for the bands you mentioned I think aftermath is the winner
