Go the ESP.  I got an Ltd AX-250 3 years ago and I love it.  I know it's not in the same product range as the H-1001FM but the neck on mine feels nice.  It's not thin but for me it's very comfortable.  It's maple and rosewood too but having never played a H-1001 I can't say how that feels.  I can't fault mine.
