What tubes shall I use for Bugera 6262 amp?
« on: September 08, 2011, 11:15:24 PM »
Ok, I'm really confused as to what tubes I should use for this amp. There's 4 in the power section and 6 in the pre-amp section. I think I'll be OK deciding what 6L6 power tubes I'll be getting, but I'm confused what the V1,2,3,4,5,6 positions mean, since I know each position means a different thing, and I should have a certain type of tube, in say, the V6 position. Help, please!!! LOL.

p.s. The type of music I play is metalcore, so I'm looking for a set that sounds good for articulate riffs, searing leads, fast solos and crushing breakdowns.

Oh and can you also tell me what order they go, because I've read in some places, the pre-amp valves may not go in order (V1,V2,V3, etc) they may go V1,V4,V5,V2, etc. You get the point I'm sure, lol. Also if you could let me know from which side, the right or left, do the pre-amp tubes start?

Use the search function, or go back 4 pages because these are exactly the same questions (you have) asked then, and they have been answered.

Yeah i saw these posts. But none of them explained in which order the preamp tubes go in these perticular amps. I just don't want to buy a Bugera and have no idea where what goes. If someone could tell me the order the preamp tubes go in these perticular amps, that wud be greatly appreciated

search online for a manual for the amp. Job done. why not post this stuff in one of the three threads you originally had going? I'm not going to search for a manual so any opinion of mine will be guess work. Also, not buying an amp because you don't know which valve does what seems a little silly. Why not buy it cos it sounds good, and then either read the manual?

I originally had going? And I'm definately buying them. I just want to research as much as I can about it before I finally have it, so I can buy the appropriate tubes for the appropriate positions. The amp sounds good with new tubes, it's just the stock aren't that great. And I've looked at all the manuals and posts on all forums (other sites as well), and I just can't seem to figure out what order the pre-amp tubes go in, and in which V position affects what part of the amp. I was hoping there'd be an amp tech on here who might have worked with these amps who might have a clue.

without seeing a schematic or the manual nobody is going to be able to help in certain terms.
Post up a schematic.

i have a friend who has one of these and it states in the manual which is which so you dont have to worry.

As for valves just buy a set of however many you need + a few more to try in the v1 position as that has the biggest impact.

To hazard a guess id say you would be fine with a tung sol 12ax7 in v1 and jj ecc83s in the rest

I 've found this:

Models 6262 and 6262-212
V9B – must be 12AX7A / ECC83A
Input, first gain stage both channels
V9A – must be 12AX7A / ECC83A
V8B, V8A, V7B, V7A – 12AX7 / ECC83
Cascaded gain stages for lead channel
V10B, V10A – 12AX7A / ECC83A
Gain stage clean channel
V6B – 12AX7B / ECC83B
tone stacks for both channels / FX send. (should really be a B grade or better, not critical)
V6A – 12AX7C / ECC83C
FX return
V5B / V5A – 12AX7C / ECC83C
Phase splitter / presence control
V1 / V2 / V3 / V4 – EL34
Power amplifier

I guess the first tube next to the input is the V10b then the V9B (V1) V9A (V2) and so on...
If anyone knows any info them please do tell...

some of that seems a little odd to me.The description of some of the functions isn't very clear.

I've used a 5150-II (second hand) as my one and only head without issue for several years now. Spare set of tubes in the bag just in case, but never had an issue. They're built like tanks, honestly, you don't need a backup for the vast majority of gigs - if anything catastrophic happens, I would be very surprised if you couldn't borrow another band's amp for that one gig. I've lent mine at a gig when some guy's Crate died a death, though I normally won't share my amp (too many cretins).

And you're blatantly Ephemeria, that was so obvious when you turned up and opened up another 3 new threads which were the same as the old ones! :P
