Glad you got it mate, that looks awesome!

The best way of lowering the volume of these amps is to use the FX Loop Master on the back on the amp if it has it.

What I do on mine is to set the volume on the OD channel to about 9 or 10 o clock (turn your guitars volume down 1st or you'll deafen yourself as I found out on mine  ), and then use the push switch on the back of the amp to enable the fx loop and then use the control as a master volume control for the amp.

You do lose a smidge of the grind of the amp, but alot less than using an attenuater. I've used my 100w Weber Mass with my QR and while it does considerably lower the volume for home use, it also affects the tone of the amp alot more than the FX Loop Master volume control does.

Scott told me to use the loop volume as well. I'll give it a go at the next rehearsal.
I don't need bedroom volume from this amp. I just need to get it at a level where we can still (kind of) hear the drummer

I don't really do 'bedroom volume' either, but it lowers it enough with minimal tone loss so you'll still be able to hear after a few days

If you have the same experience with yours as I have with mine, you'll barely ever touch that Marshall again! (I haven't used mine since!)

I've never been a fan of attenuating the QR; it really affects the tone.

In my experience using the FX Loop Master as a volume control doesn't affect the tone as much as using a power attenuator does, but you are right, it does take the edge off.

For live and recording use I don't/wouldn't use the loop volume either, but if for playing at home it's a slightly less edgy tone versus deafness or not being able to crank the levels at all and it sounding dull, I'd take the slightly less edge  8)

I haven't been able to compare them directly. First impression is that the Splawn retains more of a vintage edge, while the Laney sounds a bit more modern. 80s vs 90s, if that makes any sense...
Before I've used the Splawn in a band situation, I won't be able to really evaluate it.

I've probably posted this before, but this is the clip that made me pull the trigger on the Quickrod :

I know, it's a very wonky description.
The Laney is very Birmingham, the Splawn is more L.A. by way of New York. Not that I've been to any of these places, but you get the analogy, no?
