By the way, I think I just got the perfect 80s hot rod geetar to go with your amp :)
You sure did
On the other hand, I think these will cope nicely as well

Hey Nonny Nonny indeed! :D

I've been watching this thread with interest, wondering what sort of guitars (and music) one plays through this kind of amp. I have a much better idea now...

I've got an Explorer in a nice earthy mahogany sort of look... that's about as "pointy guitar" as I get. It comes out to do some blues and Lynnyrd Skynnyrd licks every now and then

I tried the FX loop volume yesterday. Works like a charm :D
It does take away some of the dynamics of the sound, but I could get a useable home level with a 4x12.
That doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to turning her up with a band though

ah that's good to know, thanks

awesome guitars you have there too :D

Yep, quite a lot like that one. Except mine used to be a very sticky dark cherry. After a year or two of it not getting any better I stripped it and refinished it myself one crazy fortnight when my wife was away  - http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=21600.0

Love it to bits now, but it doesn't get as much attention from me as perhaps it could.

My very first Explorer was Cherry as well. Good guitar, but I sold it for some stupid reason...
I hear what you're saying about the stickyness. I had a Les Paul Standard with the same problem. Super pretty Honeyburst finish on a highly flamed top. But she never felt right, so out she went.
