Is there a Les Paul for me?

Good day,
I am just playing around in my mind right now mostly, but I have been gasing for a Les Paul for some time now.
Thing is I thus far have not been able to find one that suits me.
My main problem is that I love the classic les paul look, but hate the shorter scale. I just need a fender scale like on my other axes. Still I want one to play metal on it, probably fit it with an aftermath bridge to play In Flames with (I am not after their tone though).
So I just wanted to ask if anyone here knows if or where I can possibly get a:

-Les Paul that is as classic in shape (arched top!!!!)
-has a fender scale (or possibly more)
-has a thinner neck than normal
-preferably costs under 1000bucks (best around 400-600, though Iīd like to look at anything)

Best thing Iīve found so far is the Buckethead signature Les Paul studio.

So come on guys, fuel the gas!

might go just over $1000 but warmoth definitely do 25.5" scale length.

Depends on how you feel about a bolt-on neck (personally I love them!)

Another option is te hagstrom super swede. I like it but it's not a true LP shape.

I am quite used to bolt-ons. Sometimes I take issue with them when they limit my upper fret acces, but otherwise I am fine with them.
But would I not have to put the warmoth parts together myself as well (I am not familiar with them too much)? Donīt know how confident I am in that regard (not much Iīd say).

The hagstrom might be an option, though I would like it more classic.
Just saw there even is a version with bigsby and tripple p-90 of that....now tripple p-90 could make for a sick axe.

Agile do 27" les paul type guitars that are neck thru and have a tummy cut and there slimline neck and i think theyre about $500

Really interresting so far, keep em coming.

The esp would need itīs PUīs replaced asap and with the price + BKP it would be over for me.

And the Agile...sounds nice (and I see they do some really nice les pauls), but the problem is that I am in germany...otherwise this might really be an option. Also you would not happen to remember the name of that model so I can maybe find some pics?

There was also the Kelly Hayes Eclipse from ESP, they made an LTD version of it too.

I was thinking there must be some 25.5" models in ESP's Eclipse/EC ranges, but I was quite surprised to find they're all 24.75" apart from the couple of signature models you guys have mentioned.

Do they meet the skinny neck requirement?  I know it's called a "Thin U" shape, but I've heard some reports that it's relatively chunky after all.  Never actually tried one.

Gibson themselves recently launched a baritone Les Paul Studio.  it has a 28" scale.  maybe that's too long?

Actually looks interresting, though that probably is too long...too expensive at least.^^ But nice to see that.

No, only those sigs. I think most people who want the 25.5" scale go for one of ESP Horizons instead, which come with fixed bridges or floyds.

I find the Thin U shape on my Eclipse to be rather thin. In fact, it's the one thing I wished that was different on that guitar - a chunkier neck.

Thanks, that pretty much rules out ESP for me then!  :lol:   Shame, they make some nice looking guitars.

I had the same issues but had a guitar made for me.  I got a Warmoth body without a neck pocket route and had Will Scott make me a neck and finish the guitar.  It has a 25.5" scale and a wrap around bridge.  It is also Gretsch orange (like the Marc Bolan guitar - though I had this made about 3 years ago).

That one looks....wow. You donīt really want it anymore, right? Sell it to a mate for a decent price?^^

^  I was Googling 25.5" Les Pauls last night and I think I saw a post in another forum (by our own Wez V) about what must have been that very guitar.

Looks great, and bonus points for the wraparound!  :D


But why did you have "issues", Phil?  You've got more Les Pauls than I could shake a stick at!  :P
