Putting out a blazing renault scenic with a hosepipe
« on: September 22, 2011, 07:23:24 AM »

Got woke up last night at 5am, the missus said there was a noise outside.  I looked out the window and next doors Renault Scenic was fully ablaze on their drive.  I tried to put it out with my hosepipe, obviously no chance but I managed to put the fire out that had spread to the front of the house.
The neighbours got out okay, although it's a good job we heard the noise.
One minute I'm asleep and the next minute I'm 5m from a car engulfed in flames which is banging and popping trying to aim my lame water stream into the inferno, totally crazy.

The fire brigade think it was deliberate.  They say somebody probably tried to steal it and couldn't so torched it to do away with any evidence.  Hopefully it turns out to be an electrical fault!

:o good job on controlling it! Reminds me of this car that was down our street last year, never did find out why it was on fire. Pretty weird rolling onto your street and seeing this

I remember you posting this actually Tom, first thing I thought of when I started writing this.  Yeah it's certianly weird when you just happen to walk past a blazing car.  Would have been kind of scerene If I wasn't so close.

Not really in the same vibe, but last night I had my first experience of someone trying to mug me at 'knife' point. Although I never saw the knife. I didn't loose owt though.

clearly, crime was out and about last night.

Blimey !
What a mess

clearly, crime was out and about last night.

Someone tried to sell me one of the many guitars looted from Rockbottom in August's riot on Tuesday.

I knew it was hooky - but as he didn't have it with him I couldn't do much about it.
My suggesting that he would need two forms of ID to sell it probably put him off - although I did speak to the police

Whereas it's fairly unusual for a vehicle to spontaneously combust, it is a Renault and I can't really see anyone wanting to steal a Scenic...

It was deliberate, turns out loads of cars on the road had been damaged.  We got a window broken.

Could of been a lot worse, everybody is okay.

Indeed. Punishment should involve mindlessly vandalising and setting fire to them.
