Billy Connolly - Route 66
« on: September 23, 2011, 01:37:25 PM »
Anyone see this last night? There was some guy on there who collects stuff. He had an insane number of guitars and amps. Mental. Initially I felt very jealous, shortly after I was left scratching my head at why on earth would he want/need so much.

Lots of the guitars and amps looked very vintage to me, I'm assuming the collection must be worth hundreds of thousands. Strangely he didn't want the building where the collection was housed to be filmed although he was happy with filming being done in the car park/surrounding area and in the building. Odd.
I think I hate being indecisive.

I get the feeling they're more objects than instruments to him. Impressive though, and the OCD side of my personality is not jealous at all!

I'm loving the program. Actually makes me a little happier watching it, makes me want to travel the route too.

I saw the trailer and assumed it was a guitar shop.... so that's someone's private collection?  :o

Didn't watch the programme.  I don't hate Billy Connolly but he starts to grate on my nerves after a very short time.

That was my first thought when I saw the trailer. As well as the guitars and amps he had an insane number of lap steels - I think he mentioned over 400.

Me too. Actually it is a bit odd that I am watching and enjoying the programme as I don't really like him that much and America is way down on my list of places to visit.
