Bridge pickup, low output, losing hair fast...
« on: September 27, 2011, 01:51:21 PM »
Hello, writing from Wit's End.

My EVH relic bridge pickup suddenly went all quiet and became a single coil overnight.  I replaced it with a Bare Knuckle Mule and that produced the same problem.  The switch looks intact, and the neck pickup is fine.  The guitar is a Charvel Custom relic, so there's rust everywhere...

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very pleased to hear them.  Changed the lead, cleaned out the switch, tried not to swear in front of the kids etc etc.

Thanks in advance.

have you tried changing out the pot?

To test if it is the pot wire the pickups hot directly to the output jack.

If its fine then its definitely the pot that is at fault

also double & triple check all connections on the pickup

Many thanks for that - and yes, it was the volume pot!  A neat trick which I'll remember for next time.
