I'm sure that he would not mind us 'ferreting' around his collection...

All rodent jokes apart, who would've guessed Richard Gere, of all people, would have a guitar collection like that?

I like the way they're not all collector's pieces - there are quite a few replacement tuners and bridges on display there, a couple of modern custom guitars.  He could do with a few more Juniors though.

That's the thing... I'd just like to own the catalogue.

Obviously, as a man of great taste, he will sell most of his stuff but keep all the good juniors.

£22 on the Christies website. I'm considering buying it. Such a great collection!

Oh man, if only the resolution when viewing the main page would go up a little, so this topic would list as "Richard Gere has a huge co..." instead of "Richard Gere has a h..."

I know, I am easily amused.

Anyway, on topic: Glad to see the lad spent all the money from those films wisely!

Is he selling any EQ or distortion pedals? My bottom end is a little loose and I could use a Rat.

Makes me wonder what he decided to keep.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Looks like most of the lot sold:

Steve Miller sounds like a right barrel of laughs:

Miller, who sat in the back of the room wearing sunglasses, kept his paddle idle. His appearance at Christie's was being filmed for a documentary titled "Burst: In Search of a Perfect Guitar," about his quest to find a pristine 1959 Les Paul Standard Sunburst.

"I wasn't tempted by anything," he said. "I have 450 guitars."

Well why go then you total tw@t.

To be fair, it's an isolated comment that they may have quoted out of context.  But he does sound a total tw@t.

450 guitars?  I'm less than 10% of the way to that....!

Yeah - probably edited and taken out of context although still not a great thing to be quoted as saying - particularly when the proceeds of the sale are all going to charity.

What I don't understand is why he was there in the first place. If he was/is looking for a 'perfect '59' he could have saved himself the bother of going if he had just taken a few minutes to look at the auction guide!
