Trilogy Suite vs HS3 ?

Hi!

I want to replace my HS3/YJM of my strat and I decided to use BKP, which pickup is more recommended to play Blackmore and Malmsteen? Trilogy Suite is the better choice?

I have a Malmsteen Signature guitar with the same pickups and Iīm looking for a Blackmore tone.

Has anyone compared the HS3 vs Trilogy suite?

I'm really interested in knowing the answer to this. I personally would think the TS is modelled to get you close to Yngwie's tone, judging by the name. But I would like to hear if anybody who plays Malmsteen's music has played the TS, and how they actually respond to that music

The Trilogy Suites are noticeably more powerful than the YJMs, the idea being that the fatter tone and higher output will drive a more classic amp nicely without needing to be deafeningly loud. This also has the benefit of making the pickups feel more fluid to play, which is nice if you're going to be shredding.

^ That confirms what I thought, that they're going after a similar tone but in different ways. 

I haven't tried the Trilogies, but I do have an HS-3.  It's really a surprisingly low output pickup.  I quite like it, especially in the neck position.

Going back to the Blackmore question, I always thought the Slowhands might do a decent Blackmore without going as high-output as the Trilogy Suites.  Would that be true?

The blackmore strat has 2 SD Quarter Pound, around 13k, high output!
I īve used the Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Solo and I donīt liked. Both pickups are called (similar to a P90). And the  Trilogy too: "A high output set of single coils with a muscular 'P90-esque' tone"

Iīm scared just hearing "similar to a P90"  :lol:

In my Strat it does not sound like a P90, but it's beefy and muscular. Love it, turned my custom shop relic strat into the most versatile metal machine ever. Much better than the stock bridge pickup, at least if your not into that typical strat bridge sound.  :lol:

I think Hunter did a clip with the Slowhands (in a Tokai Strat) playing some Blackmore and getting a pretty convincing tone

Yep, Slowhands are would be a more decidedly traditional sound than the Trilogies, which might be what you're after. I'd recommend choosing the zinc baseplate option on the bridge coil if you go for the Slowhands; a baseplate adds a decent amount of chunk without affecting the pickup's inherent voicing - it's a great sound if you'll be doing plenty of hard bridge pickup riffing.
