Collings guitars look bloody awesome.  I love the way they're like super-refined versions of well known Gibson designs.

never tried a collings, but they look sweet. The Huber i tried, while not with my ideal neck profile, was pretty badass.

Each to his own - personally a constant need to change gear would get in the way of the enjoyment I get from playing. If I want a certain sound my first port of call would be to use guitar volume/tone controls and adjust the amp settings - and practice or adjust technique.

might i suggest a vintage BC Rich Koa Eagle? It's double cut, not pointy like your average BC. It's NECK THROUGH! has an amazing array of electronics that are much more useful than one may think. It's classy yet stands out from all the guitars you see on stage today. They have possibly the best hardatil bridge EVER MADE!! All the saddles are move in all directions for perfect setups, and they are made of solid brass for amazing singing sustain! Koa sounds amazing to boot!

I don't need to change my gear, I'm really happy that I have the tones I want with the gear I have.  As I said before, I like to try different stuff to see if it lights my fire  :)

Could be hard work.... it's been under my bed (with all those Warmoth necks  ) untouched for about 10 years, when I last saw it the finish had reacted with the lining of the case  and gone all mottled (guitar cellulite?).  God knows what it looks like now.  I also foolishly fitted a Kahler in place of the original strings-through-body hardtail bridge (well it was 1985!)
