Downtuned Painkiller

Very short clip of a song I'm working on using Pod Farm. The guitar is downtuned one whole step and I love the way it melds nicely with the bass for some distorted but clear heaviness :

UG FTW. Anyways, this sounds really cool. What tuning are you in? It sounds really smooth, which I've never been able to get from the PK in a super low tuning.

Cheers for the postive comment! I've tuned it down a whole step so it's the Korn tuning : A, D, G, C, F, A, D. I had to create my own Pod Farm presets and play around loads to get a sound I liked.

I think the quality of the signal chain helps a lot with the way it sounds though - Radial JDI Active Box into an RME Babyface means the guitar/ pickup combo is being given the maximum chance to shine once inside the PC.

By the way listening to some of your PK tunes made me go for this pickup so cheers!!

Sounds great! I really want to try a Painkiller someday. BTW, what kind of 7 string are you using?

It's a nice guitar although no tone control or tremolo so you need to bear that in mind. The matte green colour is really cool and I get loads of complements. I couldn't get a really clear downtuned sound out of the PAF 7s though although this could be down to the fact that I'm using an amp sim and not a two grand Rectifier! That said the Painkiller is a great match for this guitar IMO and has achieved  exactly what I was looking for.
