I finally get to do this: NGD (yay) and possible NADx2 + NPD
« on: October 19, 2011, 03:11:52 AM »
Hi all,
I finally get to do a NGD post! It's nothing too special, but who cares. Bought a Fernandes FGZ-400 off ebay for $150 (aud), which I think is a steal. The pickups sound nice clean, but wayyyyy too thin with a bit of gain, so they probably have to go eventually. I bought it and it looked black in the pictures, but has a green sort of tinge to it which is awesome.

I'm also winning the bidding on a Blackheart little giant combo on ebay too, which was a spur of the moment bid, but I've heard good things about them.

The new Tubemeister 18 finally arrived in store too, and I am mightily impressed with that, so I'm thinking I really should get it for the blue lights. Anyone got any gripes about it? Or heard anything that should make me think otherwise about getting it? I was considering the Egnater Tweaker but I found it was just not quite up to the H&K in the gain and versatility.

And finally...I've come across a guy who has a VHII pickup, hardly used and is willing to sell it for $100 including express post. While it is short leg, wide spacing and 4 conductor wiring, it should be fine for a PRS 5 way rotary? If so, I'm going to steal this bad boy up too!

What an exciting week for me.

The VHII should be fine to fit in your PRS, but it'll be a 50-50 chance if the magnet is the right way round.  For the PRS 5-way, one of the magnets needs to be flipped 180 degrees.  If you're using the stock PRS pickup in the neck the 5-way may not work correctly....

Thanks for that Twinfan! Well if they don't fit the PRS, they go in the Fernandes.

The tubemeister is good and has two channels. If you like its sound I'd go for it!

I'm considering the Tubemeister myself. Demo's by Thomas Blug sound convincing.
Nice purchase anyway, also for the guitar.

I haven't actually purchased it, just soooooo close to it. I even went back to give it another crack. So very tempted at the moment.
