Finally the guitar is done. Well actually it has been for a while, but now everything is in working order and I just had it set up so hopefully I'm in for a lot of strat action in the near future.

As I'm a rookie in the techie business I made a rookie mistake by placing the mini switch in a pretty stupid place as I can't use the edge of the palm to roll off the volume. Well, well. I think you learn from your mistakes (hopefully  :D).

Just to sum it all up: Warmoth chambered alder body, Allparts maple neck with rosewood board, Apache neck and middle and Stormy Monday bridge which is split by the mini switch.

Cool!  8)

I haven't tried a chambered Strat body, do you find it makes much difference to the resonance and tone (acoustically or amplified)?

I'm sorry, but I'm not really able to answer your question, Philly. I haven't owned many strats, only two cheapos for a short while, and haven't given any thought to if they were chambered or not, but I'm pretty sure they were solid. Acoustically the new strat is quite loud and that might be caused by the chambering in the body. Amplified I'm not sure  :?

It's well-documented that I'm not too fond of HSS (both looks and what it does for me soundwise), but that looks pretty good sir! :D

Interesting about the chambering. Same as Philly, I'd like to know if it makes much difference as well. In my experience, on strats, quite loud acoustically is a good thing.

Don't worry too much about the switch - getting extra switches onto a strat guard is always a pain. I used to have one, and I think we put it between the two tones (but I only use one tone, anyway). Yours doesn't look too bad, then again I use my little finger rather than my palm to roll it. My guess is that switch is a little in the way, but you'll soon get used to it (and then you'll replace the guard to put the switch where you think it should be, and that'll feel wrong too!)

Fair enough.  In theory the way Warmoth do the chambering, with a "honeycomb" of little cavities, keeps the body quite stiff so it remains more like a solidbody than a Thinline, but they reckon it improves resonance and sustain and gives a warmer sound.  It'll be interesting to see if any or all of those things are true.  If nothing else it keeps the weight down!

(I've got a couple of chambered Tele bodies, but needless to say I haven't used them yet!)

The chambering sure keeps the weight down. The guitar is light as a feather. At least compared to my other guitars and especialy the LP clone  :D

You know you want to sell me one of those tele bodies, Philly  (and a tele neck while we're at it)

Here's a clean and a crunch clip. Recorded with the build in mics of a Zoom H4 field recorder. The amp is my Egnater MOD50 and I'm using BMAN module for both clips. Channel A for the cleans and channel B for the crunch. There's a TC Electronic Hall of Fame reverb in the loop set to spring reverb. The cab is a Music Man HD 212 and I have no idea what speakers there's in it. Might be the original and might not. I bought it used almost 10 years ago and at that time I wasn't really thinking about what speakers it had just that it would go well with my Music Man top.

In both clips I go from neck position to bridge where you can hear the Stormy in series and both coils in split (can't remember which split is which).

Please forgive my bad playing and butchering of some old classics  :D
