Nolly! What pickup and wood you record the Red Seas Fire album?

Nolly let me know what pickup/guitar/wood combination you record the RSF album's two guitars.

Thanks a lot man, the album is awesome!

I heard he had a Rebel Yell/VHII in one.and a Holy Diver/Emerald in the other. As well as probably a few other guitars.

Yep, Rebel Yell bridge, VHII neck in both 6 and 7 strings for the rhythm tracks. The 6-stringer is a Blackmachine B2 with a very thin chambered mahogany body, thick quilted maple top, Honduran rosewood neck w/ebony fillets, and an ebony board. The 7-string is a custom Dæmoness Cimmerian with a thin korina body, quilted maple top, 3-piece maple neck and an ebony board.

The leads on Timeframes and the Recovery were tracked with an '89 Ibanez RG550 with a Holy Diver bridge, Emerald neck. The Cipher solo was tracked with the same 7-string as the rhythm parts.

I just wondered Nolly: What is it you like about the bridges you have on them guitars? As in why did you pick them over all the other Hardtails?

I've got two guitars now with korina bodies and maple fronts like your 7 - I am in love with the sound it produces; both guitars are my favourites for recording :)

So you'd recommend them over something like a Tune-O-Matic bridge? I'd just like something on a new guitar that has a good hardtail style bridge.

Yeah, there is something special about korina/limba guitars in my experience. I have three and while all sound different, there is a unique midrange emphasis they have in common that really works in a recording context.

No, I'd recommend you choose a well-made example of the style of bridge you are most comfortable playing on.

I remember the tone of that old "The Recovery" solo vid on youtube... It had an awesome single coil vibe, and I still like it better than the final one (It was a CS neck, IIRC).

Cool thread......which caused me to download the music. Love the stuff immediate post solo (solo rips too!) on Time Frames. Man I may have to look into the Rebel Yell now......awesome.....
