Today I dropped my tele.......

I'm not precious about my guitars as I've got solder marks and stuff all overthe back of my les paul, screw holes widened in my strats etc. The stupidest one just lately was when I got my new 'Lil Bitch' cabronita back from John @ JXG guitars. I asked him to not put in the pickup as I'd do it (not a problem usually), so the pickup arrives I tried to insert it into the cavity & of course the the solder for the cover makes the pickup slightly to big...so I pushed it in & took 2 big chips out of the paintwork around the cavity...oh well

I took a chip out the headstock on my very first guitar on xmas day and its carried on from there in the same vein - they all have scars.  None of them are deliberate, just honest playing wear and tear.

My 2 year old son threw my tele down the stairs whilst rocking out with it Jeff Healey style - the only damage was a chipped nut (which was great as I got Jon at Feline to put in an Earvanna - always a good move!).  Pete Townsend apparently moved to Fenders because they survived the Who treatment better than girly Gibsons.....

Yup, I got carreid away. I actually knocked a lump out of it climbing onto the stage for the first song.

I can't get sentimental about guitars, they're tools. I smashed a lump out of my first decent acoustic guitar and moped for a month when I was 17, I decided never to get too prissy about keeping them "showroom condition" ever since. That's why I'll never own a PRS or a Gibson, I need something I can throw around, dig holes in for extra switches, carve up to stick humbuckers in and just generally mistreat. So I've got strats and teles that look lived in. I don't buy roadworn either, paying £200 extra for bumps and dents I can do myself for free seems like a waste of money.
